Free banking versus central banking

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce má za cíl popsat a objasnit způsob řízení měnové politiky za použití Free Bankingu v kontrastu k centrálnímu bankovnictví. Úvod teoretické části se bude zabývat historií centrálního bankovnictví, s důrazem na historický aspekt Bank of England. Následná teoretická část bude již zaměřena čistě na ústřední téma, a to na aspekty využití Free Bankingu v praktické hospodářské politice. Historické pozadí Free Bankingu bude zasazeno do období konce 17. století až první poloviny století 19. na území Skotska. Po několika teoretických kapitolách bude následovat část analytická. Zde se bakalářská práce zaměří na popis fungování Free Bankingu v aktuálním prostředí. Důraz bude kladen na porovnání kladů a záporů při použití Free Bankingu v měnové politice. Konečným cílem této práce bude přijmout závěry, které se budou zabývat možností využití Free Bankingu na české bankovní prostředí. Tato snaha o možnost implementace bude dále rozšířena o otázky s akcentem na možné výhody, či případná úskalí zavedení Free Bankingu v České republice.

Abstract:

The objective of the Bachelor's thesis is to describe and to clarify the method of monetary policy management in using Free Banking as compared to the central banking. The introduction deals with the history of central banking stressing the history aspects of Bank of England. The theory part focuses then on the main topics, namely the aspects of use of the Free Banking within the actual economy policy. The history background of Free Banking is set in Scotland in the period from the end of the 17th Century to the first half of the 19th Century. The chapters on theory are followed by analytical part. The thesis will focus on the description of the Free Banking in the current environment. Advantages and drawbacks of Free Banking used in the monetary policies will be compared. The final objective of the thesis is to draw conclusions about the option to use the Free Banking within the Czech banking environment. Implementation efforts shall include also questions dealing with the potential advantages or problems of implementing Free Banking in the Czech Republic.
