The INF Treaty and its Implications for the USA and Russia in the Current Security and Political Context

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá smlouvou „INF“, na základě které se Spojené státy americké a Ruská federace zavázaly eliminovat své ze země odpalované střely středního a kratšího doletu. Cílem práce je kvalitativní analýza a komparace implikací, které vyplývají ze závazků smlouvy INF pro rozdílné bezpečnostní kontexty USA a Ruské federace. Na základě porozumění těchto souvislostí autor dospěje k predikci potenciální viability smlouvy INF. Logika systému mezinárodních vztahů je nahlížená optikou neorealismu Kennetha Waltze.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is addressing the INF Treaty based on which the United States of America and the Russian Federation undertook to eliminate their ground-launched intermediate-range and shorter-range missiles. The aim of this thesis is a quality analysis and comparison of the implications resulting from the INF Treaty commitment in different security contexts of the USA and the Russian Federation. By understanding these connections, the author predicts future viability of the INF Treaty. The logic of the International Relations system is analysed from the perspective of Kenneth Waltz´s neorealism.
