Euroval: Its functions and problems

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na záchranné mechanismy Evropské unie, a jak tyto mechanismy reagují na dluhové krize v eurozóně, zejména na dluhovou krizi v Řecku. Cílem je popsat a vysvětlit fungování záchranných systémů, zároveň zhodnotit, zda záchranný systém funguje efektivně a správně. Podstatou této práce je analyzovat dluhovou situaci v Řecku a zhodnotit, zda je Řecko schopné dluhovou krizi zvládnout díky finanční asistenci záchranných mechanismů. V diplomové práci jsou využita data z dokumentů Evropské centrální banky, České národní banky a dokumentů vydané institucemi Evropské unie. V teoretické části diplomová práce popisuje historii Evropské unie, Eurozóny a specifikuje vývoj záchranných systémů. Praktická část se věnuje analýze řecké dluhové krize a rozboru tří záchranných balíčků, které Řecko získali. Dále se zabývá zhodnocení dluhové krize v Řecku.

Abstract:

My master thesis focuses on the rescue mechanisms of European Union, how these mechanisms react in the debt crisis in the Eurozone, especially during the debt crisis in Greece. The aim of this thesis is to describe and explain the function of the rescue mechanisms and evaluate if they are correct an effective. Furthermore the thesis analyses the debt situation in Greece and evaluates if the country is able to handle the situation with the help of rescue mechanisms. The main literature sources used in this master thesis were documents of the European Central Bank, the Czech National Bank and documents published by institutions of the European Union. The history of the European Union and the Eurozone and the development of rescue mechanisms are described in the theoretical part. The analysis of the Greek debt crisis and the three bailouts, which Greece obtained, are elaborated in the practical part. Moreover it examines the evaluation of debt crisis in Greece.
