Computer-assisted translation of technical texts on the example of the owner's manual from German into Czech

Abstract:

The subject of this diploma thesis entitled “Computer-assisted translation of technical texts on the example of the owner's manual from German into Czech” is a contrastive analysis, as well as a categorization and statistical evaluation of errors in the computer-assisted translation of a set of the owner's manual in German and Czech. This material is used in practice by the translation firm that provided the source documents for this diploma thesis, as an authentic work aid for established as well as new translators who are mastering the translation process by translating this type of text. This diploma thesis may also serve as an example and also a warning of the influence that CAT tools nowadays have on translators and on language as such.

Abstract:

Předmětem diplomové práce s názvem „Computergestütztes Übersetzen technischer Texte am Beispiel der Betriebsanleitung aus dem Deutschen ins Tschechische“ je kontrastivní analýza, jakož i kategorizace a statistické vyhodnocení chyb v počítačem podporovaném překladu návodu k obsluze v německém a českém jazyce. Tento materiál přímo v praxi poslouží překladatelské firmě, která pro tuto diplomovou práci poskytla své materiály, jako autentická pracovní pomůcka pro stávající i nově příchozí překladatele, kteří si na překladech tohoto typu textu osvojují překladatelský proces. Dále může sloužit tato diplomová práce jako ukázka a zároveň upozornění na to, jak v dnešní době ovlivňují CAT nástroje překladatele a jazyk jako takový.
