Adaptation Process of a Beginning Teacher

Abstract:

Tato práce s názvem Adaptační proces začínajícího učitele se zaměřuje na popis adaptace neboli přizpůsobení začínajícího učitele na jeho pozici ve škole. Jedná se o období, kdy se z žáka stává plnohodnotný učitel. Začínající učitel se v období adaptace setkává se spoustou nových povinností a úkolů, které se před ním postupně otevírají. Tento proces není pro začínající učitele vůbec snadný. Aby se začínajícím učitelům jejich nástup do praxe usnadnil co nejvíce, měla by jim být nabídnuta pomoc. Ideální formou pomoci je v tomto procesu přidělení tzv. uvádějícího (již zkušeného) učitele k začínajícímu učiteli. Uvádějící učitel může začínajícímu učiteli pomoci s různými agendami, které jsou jeho náplní práce. Může se jednat o pomoc s administrativou, přípravou na výuku, či komunikací se studenty a rodiči. Prozatím, do ledna roku 2024, není tato funkce uvádějícího učitele nijak legislativně podložena. Záleží tedy čistě na dobrovolnosti a ochotě vedení dané školy, zda a jakým způsobem bude uvádějící učitel v adaptaci jejich nového kolegy fungovat. Jelikož i já bych se chtěla stát učitelkou, zajímá mě, zda a jakým způsobem aktuálně tento proces adaptace ve školství funguje. Proto jsem se rozhodla v rámci této mojí práce zkusit zjistit reálný stav adaptačních procesů učitelů na základních a středních školách. Stanovila jsem si hypotézu, která popisuje, jak podle mého názoru tento proces ve školství funguje a na základě výsledků mého šetření si chci ověřit, zda je tato má hypotéza pravdivá, či nikoliv. Výstupem mé práce by tedy měl být souhrnný popis reálných zkušeností učitelů s adaptačním procesem ve školství doplněný o grafické znázornění získaných výsledků. Tyto výsledky budou poté sloužit k ověření mé hypotézy. Závěrem bych na základě získaných informací ráda navrhla doporučení pro školy, které by mělo obsahovat to, jak by měl takový funkční adaptační proces učitelů vypadat.

Abstract:

This work, titled "Adaptation Process of a Beginning Teacher," focuses on describing the adaptation or adjustment of a beginning teacher to their position in school. It covers the period when a student transitions into a fully-fledged teacher. During the adaptation period, the beginning teacher encounters numerous new responsibilities and tasks gradually unfolding. This process is by no means easy for aspiring teachers. To facilitate their entry into practice, beginning teachers should be offered assistance. An ideal form of help in this process is assigning a mentor teacher (already experienced) to the beginning teacher. The mentor teacher can assist the novice teacher with various tasks that are part of their job, including administrative work, lesson preparation, and communication with students and parents. Currently, until January 2024, this mentorship role is not legislatively supported. Therefore, it purely depends on the voluntary commitment and willingness of the school's leadership to decide whether and how a mentor teacher will function in helping the adaptation of their new colleague. As I also aspire to become a teacher, I am interested in understanding how this adaptation process currently functions in education. Therefore, within the scope of this work, I have decided to explore the real state of adaptation processes for teachers in primary and secondary schools. I have formulated a hypothesis that describes, in my opinion, how this process functions in education, and based on the results of my research, I aim to verify whether this hypothesis is true or not. The outcome of my work should be a comprehensive description of teachers' real experiences with the adaptation process in education, supplemented by the graphic representation of the obtained results. These results will then be used to verify my hypothesis. In conclusion, based on the acquired information, I would like to propose recommendations for schools, outlining what an effective adaptation process for teachers should entail.
