The relationship between emotional intelligence, constructive thinking and leadership styles with students of the Department of Leadership at the University of Defense in Brno

Abstract:

Bakalářská diplomová práce se zabývá vztahem emoční inteligence a konstruktivního myšlení se styly vedení. Práce je rozdělena do dvou základních částí: teoretické a výzkumné. Teoretická část pojednává o emoční inteligenci, konstruktivním myšlení, leadershipu, stylech vedení a vojenské psychologii. V empirické části práce popisujeme realizaci dotazníkového šetření na studentech (N = 50) Katedry leadershipu na Univerzitě Obrany v Brně pomocí kvantitativního výzkumu. Testová baterie se skládá z Dotazníku konstruktivního myšlení (CTI), Schutteho škály emoční inteligence (SEIS) a Testu stylů vedení (LJI). Výsledky výzkumu nepotvrzují existenci vztahu mezi mírou emoční inteligence a styly vedení podle metody LJI. Nebyl nalezen vztah mezi mírou konstruktivního myšlení a styly vedení podle metody LJI. Souvislost mezi mírou faktoru Behaviorální zvládání a preferovaným stylem vedení nebyla potvrzena. Byla nalezena signifikantně pozitivní souvislost mezi mírou faktoru Emocionální zvládání a mírou emoční inteligence.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe the relationship between emotional intelligence, constructive thinking and leadership styles. The thesis is divided into two basic parts: theoretical and empirical. In the theoretical part we describe emotional intelligence, constructive thinking, leadership, leadership styles, and military psychology. In the empirical part we realize quantitative questionnaire survey on students (N = 50) of the Department of Leadership at the University of Defense in Brno. The test battery consists of Constructive Thinking Inventory (CTI), Schutte Emotional Intelligence Scale (SEIS), and Leadership Styles Indicator (LJI). We did not prove the existence of a relationship between emotional intelligence and leadership styles according to the LJI method. The relationship between the level of constructive thinking and leadership styles according to the LJI method was not proved. The positive correlation between the level of the factor Behavioral Coping and leadership styles was not confirmed. We found a significant positive correlation between the level of the factor Emotional Coping and emotional intelligence.
