Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá rozborem rozdílných přístupů k adaptaci románu Mistr a Markétka Michaila Bulgakova s ohledem na problematické aspekty literárního textu. První část práce vybírá problematické aspekty a následně je rozebírá; jsou jimi: mnohovrstevnatost příběhu, autobiografičnost díla, divadelnost textu, početný ansámbl postav, práce s prostorem a časem a metatextovost díla. Druhá část práce se soustředí na vybrané filmové a seriálové adaptace, kterými jsou filmy Mistr a Markétka (1972, Aleksandar Petrović) a Pilát a ti druzí (1972, Andrzej Wajda) a stejnojmenné seriály Mistr a Markétka (1988, Maciej Wojtyszko), (2005, Vladimir Bortko). Analýza adaptací se zaměřuje na práci se scénářem, reaguje na konkrétní zvolená adaptační řešení jednotlivých tvůrců a všímá si, kdy tvůrci záměrně kopírují text předlohy a kdy se vůči němu naopak vymezují s ohledem na stopáž výsledného filmového díla. Cílem práce je analýza vybraných adaptačních přístupů a jejich rozdílnosti vztažená ke komplexnosti předlohy a jejím problematickým aspektům. Zjišťuje tak, že tvůrce filmových adaptací nutí kratší stopáž hledat adaptační klíče umožňující zjednodušení složité struktury románové předlohy a při konfrontaci s jejími problémovými aspekty nacházet řešení vyžadující posuny ve scénáři. Tvůrci seriálových adaptací jsou schopni kopírovat předlohu mnohem věrněji, což s sebou zároveň nese riziko sklouznutí k přílišné doslovnosti.

Abstract:

This master's thesis deals with the analysis of different approaches to the adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov's novel The Master and Margarita with regard to the problematic aspects of the literary text. The first part selects problematic aspects and then analyzes them; they are: the multi-layered nature of the story, the autobiographical nature of the novel, the theatricality of the text, a large ensemble of characters, work with space and time, and the metatextuality of the novel. The second part then focuses on selected film and series adaptations, which are the films The Master and Margarita (1972, Aleksandar Petrović) and Pilate and Others (1972, Andrzej Wajda) and the series of the same name The Master and Margarita (1988, Maciej Wojtyszko), (2005, Vladimir Bortko). The analysis of adaptations focuses on scriptwriting; reacts to the chosen solutions of each of the creators and notices when the creators deliberately copy the original text and when, on the contrary, their creative decisions differ from it - with regard to the final length of the footage. The purpose of the thesis is the analysis of selected adaptation approaches and their differences related to the complexity of the novel and its problematic aspects. Thus, it finds that creators of film adaptations are forced by the shorter length of the footage to look for solutions that enable the simplification of the complex structure of the novel and, when confronted with its problematic aspects, find solutions that require shifts in the script. The creators of series adaptations are able to copy the original much more faithfully, which at the same time carries with it the risk of slipping into literalism.
