Possibilities for countering terrorism in states under rule of law

Abstract:

Extrémismus může představovat ohrožení pro zachování demokratického režimu a demokratický právní stát musí disponovat efektivními a zároveň i přiměřenými nástroji, jak těmto ohrožením čelit. Cílem práce bude popsat a analyzovat tato možná rizika a hrozby ale rovněž i nástroje, které demokratický právní stát může používat při své obraně, aby tyto byly jak efektivní, tak zároveň i přiměřené. V první části práce je podrobně rozebrán pojem demokracie, myšlenky a názory jednotlivých autorů, navazuje část zabývající se extremismem. Závěrem autorka shrnuje důležitost podílení se občanů na demokracii.

Abstract:

Extremism can pose a threat to the preservation of a democratic regime and the rule of law must have effective as well as appropriate tools to deal with these threats. The aim of this thesis is to describe and analyze these possible risks and threats, but also the tools that the rule of law can use for its defense, so that they are both effective and adequate. The first part of the thesis deals with detailed analysis of the concept of democracy, ideas and opinions of individual authors and is followed by a part dealing with extremism. At the end the author summarizes the importance of citizens’ participation in democracy.
