The impact of foreign direct investment, official development aid, and remittances on development in Southeast Asian countries

Abstract:

Diplomová práce posuzuje vliv přímých zahraničních investic, oficiální rozvojové pomoci a remitencí na lidský rozvoj států jihovýchodní Asie. Za tímto účelem jsou použity statistické metody vícerozměrné analýzy a metoda měření konvergence. V práci je využit Index lidského rozvoje jako alternativní ukazatel k ekonomickým ukazatelům. Práce pracuje s databází mezinárodní organizace Světové banky a databází Rozvojového programu OSN. Výsledky práce poukazují na sjednocování lidského kapitálu států jihovýchodní Asie a na významný vliv remitencí na Index lidského rozvoje.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis reviews the impact of foreign direct investment, official development aid, and remittances on human development in Southeast Asian countries. For this purpose, the thesis applies the methods of multidimensional analysis and method for measuring convergence. Human Development Index is used in the thesis as an alternative indicator to economic indicators. The thesis operates with database of the international organization of the World Bank and database of the United Nations Development Programme. The results of the thesis indicate the unification of the standards of living in Southeast Asian countries and the significant effect of the remittances on the Human Development Index.
