Jihadist Terrorist Propaganda during the Covid 19 Pandemic – Tactics and Rhetoric

Abstract:

Obsahem této práce je problematika džihádistického terorismu a jeho propagandy v období pandemie COVID-19, která pro teroristické organizace a extrémisty znamenala možnost nečekané příležitosti. V úvodních částech práce je představena problematika propagandy, její dělení, formy a nástroje. Práce dále pokračuje v představení islámu jako náboženství, zdrojů islámského učení, a především konceptu džihádu. V následujících částech se práce zaměřuje na zásadní myšlenkové proudy islámu a ideologie, které vedly k vytvoření džihádismu a využití propagandy jako klíčového nástroje. Cílem práce bylo přispět k porozumění problematiky teroristické propagandy džihádistů a přiblížit její vývoj a změnu vlivem pandemie COVID-19, a možné důsledky této pandemie na radikalizaci.

Abstract:

The content of this thesis is the issue of jihadist terrorism and its propaganda in the period of the COVID-19 pandemic, which meant the possibility of an unexpected opportunity for terrorist organizations and extremists. In the introductory parts of the thesis, the issues of propaganda, its division, forms and tools are introduced. The thesis goes on to introduce Islam as a religion, the sources of Islamic teachings, and especially the concept of jihad. In the following sections, the thesis focuses on the major schools of thought in Islam and the ideologies that led to the creation of jihadism and the use of propaganda as a key tool. The aim of the thesis was to contribute to the understanding of the issue of jihadist terrorist propaganda and to outline its evolution and change due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the possible implications of this pandemic on radicalization.
