T: The Frame as an Art Object in Contemporary Czech and Polish Photography

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou fenoménu rámu jako uměleckého objektu v oblasti fotografie v Polsku a České republice po roce 2012. Výběr autorů je diktován především širokou škálou možností vyplývajících ze způsobu rámování jejich děl, obzvlášť fotografických. Byla provedena analýza způsobů rámování děl od samých počátků fotografického média po rozvíjející se současné umělecké trendy (například site-specific projekty) v posledních několika letech. Práce je přehledem tvorby umělců pracujících s fotografickým médiem v rovině uvažování o vystavení díla, která v současných dějinách fotografie, zejména v Polsku a České republice, chybí, což také poukazuje na nepříliš progresivní uvažování o fotografii v rámci tohoto média.

Abstract:

This thesis is an analysis of the phenomenon of the frame as an artistic object in the field of photography in Poland and Czech Republic after 2012. The choice of artists is dictated primarily by the wide range of possibilities emanating from the way they frame their works, especially photographic works. An analysis has been made of the way in which works have been framed since the very beginnings of the photographic medium, as well as of developing contemporary artistic trends (for example, site-specific projects) over the last several years. This work is an overview of the work of artists working with the photographic medium at the level of thinking about the display of the work, which is limited in the contemporary history of photography, especially in Poland and Czech Republic, which also indicates rather unprogressive thinking about photography within its medium.
