The Analysis of Misunderstanding in Listening Comprehension in Czech as a Foreign Language

Abstract:

Disertační práce analyzuje na materiálu slovanských mluvčích proces poslechu s porozuměním se zvláštním zřetelem k příčinám neporozumění v češtině jako cizím jazyce. Přináší přehled oboru od šedesátých let dvacátého století s důrazem na výsledky výzkumu v posledních třiceti letech. K popisu procesu recepce auditivně vnímaného textu využívá poznatků českých i zahraničních lingvistů, vypracovává jednotné pojmosloví. Práce obsahuje klasifikaci poslechových strategií a taktik, které jsou nově přeloženy, terminologicky přizpůsobeny tradicím české lingvodidaktiky a doloženy výsledky výzkumu. Nezvládnuté poslechové strategie a taktiky jsou v práci vnímány jako základní příčiny neporozumění v poslechu s porozuměním v češtině jako cizím jazyku. K dosažení tohoto cíle práce byl použit kvalitativní a kvantitativní výzkum vycházející z nahrávek verbálních výpovědí recipientů a dotazníku. Klasifikace příčin neporozumění v této řečové dovednosti je stejně jako u poslechových strategií a taktik v práci vztažena k fázím poslechu s porozuměním a frekvence jejich výskytu v analytické části. Práce obsahuje také metodologické závěry a doporučení pro výukovou praxi řečové dovednosti poslech s porozuměním v češtině jako cizím jazyku.

Abstract:

The dissertation thesis analyses the process of listening comprehension with a special focus on causes of misunderstanding in Czech as a foreign language based on the material of Slavish language users. It summarizes the branch development from the sixties of the 20th century with emphasize on the research results of the last thirty years. For the description of the process of the auditory perception of a text it uses the knowledge of Czech, as well as foreign linguists, and works on unifying of the terminology. The thesis contains qualification of listening strategies and tactics which are newly translated, adjusted to the tradition of the Czech language teaching from the terminological point of view, and supported by the research results. Not acquired listening strategies and tactics are understood as basic causes of misunderstanding in listening comprehension in Czech as a foreign language. Both quantitative and qualitative research was used to achieve the aim of the work. The research used recordings of recipients' verbal protocol and a questionnaire as its base. The qualification of the misunderstanding causes in this verbal skill is related to the individual parts of the listening comprehension and the frequency of occurrence in the analytical part. The thesis contains also methodological conclusions and recommendations for teaching practice of listening comprehension in Czech as a foreign language.
