What do Scots want? Political-geographic analysis

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na Skotsko, zejména skotský problém s Angličany a jeho separatistické tendence. V této práci jsou nastíněny jak faktograficky, tak definičně pojmy separatismu a secesionismu. Dále možnosti a způsoby uznání nového státu podle mezinárodního práva mezinárodním společenstvím. Je nastíněna historie Skotska, jeho kulturní symboly a problematická historie s Angličany. Dále skotský volební a zastupitelský systém a vztahy mezi Skotským a Britským parlamentem. V poslední analytické kapitole se tato práce zaobírá teritoriálními diferencemi ve třech událostech, a to v referendu o nezávislosti Skotska v roce 2014, parlamentních volbách Skotska v roce 2016 a referendem o vystoupení Velké Británie z EU, také v roce 2016. Jsou analyzovány rozdíly a distribuce hlasů.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is focused on Scotland, more particular Scottish problems with Englishmen and Scottish separatism tendencies. This thesis includes facts and definitions of separatism and secessionism. Onward there are mentioned criteria of state and options for recognition by an international law and international community. Thesis also includes brief history of Scotland and its cultural symbols and problems with Englishmen. Also, Scottish election system and comparison between Scottish and British parliament. In the last analytical chapter, this thesis is focused on territorial distribution and differences of votes in three events. Scottish independence referendum 2014, Scottish parliament election 2016 and EU referendum 2016. This thesis analyses differences and distribution of votes in these events.
