Intergenerational differences of group X and Y in the area of motivation

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá mezigeneračními rozdíly skupin X a Y v oblasti motivace a jejím cílem je zjistit, zda existují rozdíly v pracovní motivaci a spokojenosti mezi zástupci těchto dvou generací. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části. První je teoretická část, v níž je uvedena terminologie týkající se motivace, stimulace, pracovní motivace a spokojenosti a dále obsahuje popis charakteristik generací X a Y. Tato část byla zpracována na základě využití odborné literatury. V teoretické části jsou rovněž představeny cíle a přínos práce, hypotézy, výzkumné otázky a metodika kvantitativního a kvalitativního výzkumu, kde bylo využito konkrétně dotazníkového šetření a individuálních rozhovorů. Druhá, praktická část zahrnuje vyhodnocení obou výzkumů, shrnutí výsledků včetně jejich porovnání s teoretickými poznatky a testování hypotéz. Součástí praktické části je formulace doporučení pro zaměstnavatele, která jim napomohou při volbě vhodných faktorů v oblasti pracovní motivace a spokojenosti u generace X a Y.

Abstract:

This Master’s thesis is focused on intergenerational differences between group X and group Y in the area of motivation and its aim is to find out if there are any differences in work motivation and work satisfaction between generation X and Y. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first, theoretical part describes the motivation, stimulation, work motivation, work satisfaction and characteristics of generation X and Y. This part of the thesis is based on appropriate specialized literature. The theoretical part also contains describing goals and contribution of this thesis, hypotheses, research questions and methodology of quantitative and qualitative research, which consists of the survey and individual interviews. The second, practical part includes evaluation of both mentioned researches, summary of results, including the comparison of the theory and practical application,and hypotheses verification. This part also includes the formulation of recommendations for employers, which could help them to select the appropriate factors of work motivation and work satisfaction for the representatives of generation X and Y.
