Life goals and their attainment in students of University of Ostrava

Abstract:

Tématem diplomové práce jsou životní cíle a jejich dosahování u studentů Ostravské univerzity. První kapitola teoretické části se zabývá vynořující se dospělosti a zakotvené dospělosti, jejich charakterizováním, vývojem těchto pojmů, popisu situace v České republice a sociálními oblastmi v těchto dvou věkových kategoriích. Druhá kapitola se zabývá životními cíli, jejich charakteristikou a teoretickému vymezení životních cílů ve vynořující se a v zakotvené dospělosti. Třetí kapitola se zabývá pojmem seberegulace, jejím charakterizováním a popisem v rámci teorie celoživotního vývoje, dále se tato kapitola zabývá také modelem selekce, optimalizace a kompenzace (SOC) Paula B. Baltese a souvislostí životních cílů a seberegulace. Výzkumná část je zaměřena na kvantitativní výzkum, který zkoumá, zdali se liší životní cíle studentů Ostravské univerzity ve vynořující se dospělosti a v zakotvené dospělosti a vlivem modelu SOC na volbu životních cílů taktéž v obou věkových kategoriích.

Abstract:

The topic of the master's thesis is life goals and their attainment in students of University of Ostrava. The first chapter of the theoretical part deals with emerging adulthood and established adulthood, their characterization, the development of these concepts, a description of the situation in the Czech Republic and the social domains in these two age categories. The second chapter deals with life goals, their characteristics and the theoretical definition of life goals in emerging and established adulthood. The third chapter deals with the concept of self-regulation, its characterization and description within the theory of lifelong development. This chapter also explores Paul B. Baltes's model of selection, optimization and compensation (SOC) and the relation between life goals and self-regulation. The research part is focused on quantitative research, which examines whether the life goals of Ostrava University students differ between emerging and established adulthood ant the influence of the SOC model on the choice of life goals in both age categories.
