Information literacy of first year bachelor students: research probe into the Information and Library Studies program at FF MU

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá tématem informační gramotnosti a je rozdělena na teoretickou a výzkumnou část. Teoretická část práce se skládá ze čtyř kapitol, první kapitola představuje úvod do problematiky, ve kterém vymezujeme základní pojmy. Jedná se o informační gramotnost, s ní související digitální a počítačovou gramotnost a dále informační chování. Následně jsme se zaměřili na informační gramotnost ve standardech a představili jsme přehled výzkumů, jež pomohly k designu i našeho výzkumu. V poslední kapitole popisujeme vzdělávání v době pandemie, digitální wellbeing a adaptabilní období přechodu mezi střední a vysokou školou. Výzkumná část práce slouží jako sonda do kompetencí informační gramotnosti u studentů 1. ročníku v programu Informační studia a knihovnictví. Přináší závěry týkající se vstupních kompetencí, subjektivního vnímání změn v těchto kompetencích a předkládá také poznatky související s pandemií koronaviru a s distančním vzděláváním.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis focuses on the topic of information literacy, and it is divided into a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical part of the thesis consists of four chapters, the first chapter provides an insight into the topic, which allows us to specify the fundamental terms. These are information literacy and related digital and computer literacy, as well as information behavior. Subsequently, we focused on information literacy in standards and presented an overview of research that also helped the design of our research. In the last chapter, we describe learning in a pandemic, digital wellbeing and the adaptable transition period between high schools and universities. The empirical part of the thesis serves as a probe into the competencies of information literacy in first-year students in the Information and Library Studies program. It draws conclusions regarding entry competencies, subjective perception of changes in these competencies, and brings findings related to the coronavirus pandemic and distance learning.
