Abstract:

The master's thesis deals with the use of language corpora in the teaching of German as a foreign language at the University of Defence in Brno. In linguistics, the role of corpus linguistics lies primarily in finding patterns of language behavior that would not be possible to discover on the basis of a smaller dataset. This aspect of discovery is also important for language teaching. A further advantage of corpora is that they offer not only authentic language material and its context, but also additional information, such as frequency of the searched item, areas of its usage, and its collocations. Despite these undeniable advantages, the incorporation of corpora as one of the tools of language teaching is still a relatively rare occurrence. The aim of the presented master's thesis is to conduct research into the awareness of German language teachers at the University of Defence in Brno regarding the possibilities of utilizing corpus linguistics in teaching, to create a sample teaching material for teaching basic military vocabulary using corpora, and subsequently evaluate its didactic potential. The contribution of the work can be seen primarily in mapping the views of teachers on the use of corpora in teaching specialized language and creating material that can be used directly in the teaching.

Abstract:

Magisterská práce se zabývá využitím jazykových korpusů ve výuce němčiny jako cizího jazyka na Univerzitě obrany v Brně. V jazykovědě spočívá role korpusové lingvistiky především v nacházení vzorců jazykového chování, které by na materiálu menšího rozsahu nebylo možné objevit. Tento aspekt objevování je důležitý i pro výuku cizího jazyka. Výhodou korpusů je, že nabízí nejen autentický jazykový materiál včetně kontextu, ale také dodatkové funkce, jako např. možnost zjištění frekvence hledaného výrazu, oblasti jeho užití a jeho kolokace. Přes tyto nesporné výhody je zařazení korpusu jako výukového nástroje do výuky cizího jazyka stále poměrně málo častou záležitostí. Cílem předkládané diplomové práce je zjištění povědomí učitelů němčiny na Univerzitě obrany v Brně o možnostech využití korpusové lingvistiky ve výuce, vytvoření vzorové výukové podpory pro výuku základní vojenské slovní zásoby pomocí korpusů a následné vyhodnocení jejího didaktického potenciálu. Přínos práce lze spatřovat především ve zmapování názorů vyučujících na využití korpusů ve výuce vybraného jazyka a vytvoření materiálu, který může sloužit k přímému použití ve výuce.
