Sovereign rating and its relation to macroeconomic indicators development

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá ratingem země a jeho vztahu k vývoji makroekonomických ukazatelů. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí. V první teoretické části je vymezen pojem rating jako takový, jeho druhy a význam jednotlivých ratingových stupňů. Jsou zde rozebírány problémy, se kterými jsou ratingové agentury spojovány v rámci jejich fungování na finančních trzích a detailněji popsána metodologie sestavování suverénního ratingu agenturou Standard&Poor’s. Dále jsou v této práci popsány determinanty, které ovlivňují výsledný rating země. Analytická část má za cíl pomocí vybraných makroekonomických ukazatelů zhodnotit, zda má jejich zhoršující se vývoj negativní dopad na ratingové hodnocení a zda členství zemí v měnové unii jako je v Evropské unii eurozóna má na konečný rating nějaký dopad.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is focused on sovereign rating and its relation to macroeconomic indicators development. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first theoretical part defines sovereign rating, its types and the meaning of rating grades. The thesis discusses the problems that are associated with rating agencies in the context of their operation on financial markets and provides detailed description of sovereign credit rating methodology by the agency Standard&Poor’s. In addition, the determinants and their impact on sovereign rating are described. The analytical part consists of assessing selected macroeconomic indicators and determining whether their poor development negatively affects sovereign ratings and if the role of eurozone membership for EU countries plays any role for their final rating assessment.
