Abstract:

Tato závěrečná práce se zabývá problematikou demotivace dospívajících studentů angličtiny, zejména těch na střední škole. Jejím hlavním účelem je prozkoumat příčiny demotivace a zároveň zohlednit všechny vnější a vnitřní prvky, které by mohly ovlivnit vztah studentů vůči ELT. Práce se skládá ze dvou částí. Vzhledem k celkovému cíli práce se první část soustředí na podrobný popis pojmů „motivace“ a „demotivace“ a prokázané příčiny. Dále uznává role dvou termínů v rámci ELT. Druhá, výzkumná část se zaměřuje na hodnotu uvedených skutečností v praktické aplikaci. Pro pokus o prokázání hodnoty uvedených poznatků byly použity kvalitativní i kvantitativní metody sběru dat. Jako výzkumný předmět byli vybráni studenti Střední Školy Stavební v Jihlavě.Tato práce poskytuje podrobnější pohled do myšlení dospívajících studentů, prezentuje výsledky a navrhuje možná zlepšení pro učitele anglického jazyka.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the problematic of de-motivation among teenage students of English, mainly those in secondary schools. Its central purpose is to explore and investigate the causes of de-motivation, while also putting into consideration all the outer and inner elements which might affect students` relationship to ELT. The thesis consists of two parts. Due to the overall aim of the work, the first part provides a detailed description of the terms “motivation “and “de motivation “as well as proven causers. It acknowledges the effects and roles of the two terms in ELT. The second, research part focuses on the value of the stated facts in practical application. To attempt to prove the value of the stated fact, both qualitative and quantitative methods of data collection were applied. As a research subject, the students from “The Secondary School of Civil Engineering in Jihlava were chosen. The thesis provides a more in-depth look into the mindset of teenage students, presents results and suggests possible improvements for teachers of the English Language.
