Leisure time as a dimension of quality of life of seniors

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá volnočasovými aktivitami seniorů a vlivem na jejich život. Obsahuje oblasti, které mohou volný čas seniorů ovlivnit, a které jsem spolu se základními pojmy, vymezila v první kapitole teoretické části práce. V kapitole druhé se nejdříve věnuji volnému času obecně, jeho definici, vztažením na seniory a funkcím. Následně přecházím k volnočasovým aktivitám, jejich důležitosti vzhledem ke kvalitě života seniorů a popisu volnočasových center, ve kterých senioři mohou trávit svůj volný čas. Teoretickou část práce zakončuji pojmem kvalita života a jeho aspekty. Pro výzkum jsem použila kvalitativní metodu sběru dat, konkrétně polostrukturované rozhovory. Cílem práce je zjistit, jaké jsou názory seniorů na volný čas. Respondenti vždy byli aktivními lidmi a aktivitu vnímají i během stáří jako nedílnou součást jejich životů. Uvědomují si její fyzický i psychický přínos a vnímají ji jako šanci na lepší, hlavně fyzický, stav i do budoucích let. Jejich aktivitu a program dne ovlivňuje hlavně zdravotní stav, bydlení a potřeba společnosti partnera či přátel. Respondenti svůj volný čas tráví venku, činnostmi na počítači, setkáváním se a ženy domácími pracemi. Někteří stále sportují, cestují a navštěvují společenské a kulturní akce. Svůj program do důchodu si však dopředu, z různých důvodů, neplánovali.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with leisure activities of seniors and the impact on their lives. Contains areas that can affect the leisure time of seniors and together with the basic concepts are defined in the first chapter of the theoretical part of the work. In the second chapter I deal with free time in general, the definition, reference to seniors and functions. Then I continue with leisure activities, their importance with regards to the quality of life of seniors. Description of leisure centres where seniors can spend their free time follows. Theoretical part of work is finished with the term quality of life and its aspects. For the research I used a qualitative method of research, specifically semi-structured interviews. The aim of the work is to find out what are the opinions of seniors on leisure time. Respondents were active people and they perceive activity even during old age as an integral part of their lives. They are aware of its physical and mental benefits and perceive it as a change for a better, mostly physical, status for future years. Their activities and program of the day are mainly influenced by their health, their housing and the need of partner or friends. Respondents spend their free time outdoors, doing activities at computers, social meetings and woman housework. Some still do sports, travel and visit some social and culture events. However, their retirement program, for many reasons, did not plan.
