Communication with Child-patients and Czech for Foreigners

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá komunikací lékaře (respektive zdravotní sestry) s dětským pacientem v kontextu češtiny pro cizince. Jejím cílem je jazykově analyzovat zdravotnickou komunikaci s pediatrickým pacientem a na základě analýzy vytvořit výukové materiály pro zahraniční studenty lékařství. V první části práce jsou shrnuty teoretické poznatky o dětské řeči, jazyce směřovaném na děti a zdravotnické komunikaci se zaměřením na pediatrického pacienta. Navazuje pojednání o dostupných učebnicích lékařské češtiny a dále o kvalitativním výzkumu provedeném v pediatrických ordinacích. Výzkum cílí na identifikaci klíčových jazykových aspektů komunikace lékařských pracovníků s dětským pacientem. Praktickým výstupem jsou výukové materiály pro zahraniční studenty lékařství, v nichž jsou stěžejní oblasti této specifické komunikace postiženy.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the communication of a doctor (or nurse) with child-patients in the context of Czech for foreigners. The aim of the thesis is to analyze medical communication with a pediatric patient and to create educational materials for foreign medical students based on the analysis. The first part of the thesis summarizes the theoretical knowledge about children's speech, language directed to children and medical communication with a focus on pediatric patients. This is followed by a review of available medical Czech textbooks and qualitative research conducted in pediatric practices to identify the key linguistic aspects of medical communication with pediatric patients. The practical output is educational materials for foreign medical students in which key aspects of this specific communication are covered.
