Educational inequalities in communist Czechoslovakia and the reflection of the consequences of the educational system actors´s experiences

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou vzdělanostních nerovností v komunistickém Československu během let 1948 až 1989 a zároveň přibližuje odraz jejich důsledků z přímých zkušeností aktéru vzdělávacího systému. Těžiště práce spočívá ve snaze co nejkomplexněji postihnout podoby vzdělávacích nerovností v kontextu nedemokratického vládnoucího režimu a zároveň přiblížit nástroje a mechanismy, které za tímto jevem stály. K objasnění zvoleného cíle práce byla především nápomocná detailní analýza dostupného bibliografického materiálu zaměřeného na nerovnosti v přístupu ke vzdělání. Další významný zdroj dat představoval soubor polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s osobami, jež byly přímo nebo částečně zasaženy nerovnostmi vzdělávacího systému během socialistické minulosti tehdejšího Československa, přičemž jako doplňující materiál sloužily vzpomínky a rozhovory s lidmi, kteří měli taktéž přímou zkušenost se socialistickým systémem školství obsažené v relevantních publikacích.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the issue of educational inequalities in the communit Czechoslovakia during the period of 19481989 and also brings a reflection of their consequences using immediate experiences of the actors of the educational system. The effort to describe the forms of educational inequalities in the context of nondemocratic ruling regime and also to bring the tools and mechanisms behind this phenomenon as most coherently as possible is the core of this thesis. The detailed analysis of available bibliographical materials focused on inequalities of access to education helped to clarify the the aim of the thesis. Another important source of information was a set of semi-structured interviews with persons who were either directly or at least partially affected by inequalities of educational system in the former socialistic Czechoslovakia while relevant publications showing memories and interviews with people who also had direct experience with the soicalistic system of education served as supplementary material.
