Ethical decision-making of the psychology students

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje etickému rozhodování u studentů psychologie v modelových situacích etického dilematu. Cílem práce bylo zjistit, zda existuje vztah mezi poskytnutými otázkami k zamyšlení a učiněným rozhodnutím. Teoretická část se zabývá klíčovými pojmy, různými vývojovými teoriemi morálky, etickými principy, etickými kodexy a zahrnuje také etiku v psychoterapii. V další části je popsán proces rozhodování na obecné rovině, problematika etických dilemat, faktory ovlivňující etické rozhodování a modely etického rozhodování. Výzkumu se zúčastnilo 65 respondentů, kteří zodpovídali kromě dotazníku etického rozhodování také zkrácený dotazník NEO-FFI a dotazník spirituality PSQ 36 a sestavovali individuální žebříček hodnot. Z výsledků vyplynulo, že pouze seznam otázek k zamyšlení ve smyslu zákonných povinností je ve slabém vztahu k vyššímu výskytu kategorie preferující zákonné povinnosti v odpovědích respondentů, a že respondenti vnímají etický kodex jako prospěšnou pomůcku při řešení dilematu. V případě vybraných dimenzí NEO-FFI byla nalezena pouze slabá souvislost mezi introverzí a vyšším výskytem kategorie autonomie.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with ethical decision-making of the psychology students in the model situations of ethical dilemma. The aim of the thesis was to find out whether there exists any relation between questions provided to contemplation and made decision. The theoretical part deals with fundamental terms, different theories of the moral development, ethical principles, ethical codes and the ethics in psychotherapy. The other part of the thesis describes the process of decision-making on the general level, the matter of ethical dilemmas, the factors affecting ethical decision-making and the models of ethical decision-making. There were 65 people participating in the research. They responded to several questionnaires such as the Questionnary of ethical decision-making, the abbreviated Personality questionnary (NEO-FFI) and the Questionnary of spirituality (PSQ 36), and ranked their individual values. The results show that only the list of questions oriented toward priority of law is slightly related with the appearance of the legal obligation´s category in participants reply. Respondents perceive an ethical codex as a usefull help for dilemma solution. It was also proved that there is a weak relationship between an introversion and higher appearance of the individual autonomy´s category.
