An Analysis of Democratic Transition in Mexico

Abstract:

Analýza demokratické tranzice v MexikuTato diplomová práce se bude zabývat analýzou mexického přechodu k demokracii se zaměřením na období od 80. let 20. století až po prezidentské volby v roce 2006. Práce bude vycházet z teorií nedemokratických režimů a teorií tranzice.Úvodní, teoretická část práce představí jednotlivé typologie nedemokratických režimů a typologie přechodů k demokracii. Praktická část pak bude zkoumat charakteristické rysy mexického nedemokratického režimu a zejména proces tranzice k režimu demokratickému. Cílem práce bude analýza hlavních příčin změny a rozhodujících aktérů, kteří měli vliv na úspěšnost či neúspěšnost konsolidace demokracie v zemi. Na základě teoretické části poté bude mexická tranzice přiřazena k obecné typologii tranzitivních procesů.V práci bude uplatněn empiricko-analytický přístup, kdy na základě případové studie bude provedena analýza demokratizačního procesu v Mexiku.

Abstract:

This thesis will deal with the analysis of Mexico's transition to democracy, focusing on the period since the eighties of the twentieth century to the presidential election in 2006. The work will be based on theories of undemocratic regimes and theory of transition.The preamble, theoretical part of the work introduces different typologies of undemocratic regimes and typologies of transitions to democracy. The practical part will examine the characteristics of Mexico's undemocratic regime and in particular the process of transition to a democratic regime. The aim of the work will be to examine the main causes of change and critical participant, who have an influence on the success or failure of consolidation of democracy in the country. After this theoretical part will be assigned the Mexican transition to a general typology of transition processes.The work will be applied empirical-analytical approach, which based on the case study will analyze the democratization process in Mexico.
