Skeletal scintigraphy - survey of patients' awareness of examination conditions

Abstract:

Má bakalářská práce se zabývá scintigrafií skeletu. Cílem této bakalářské práce je zhodnotit úroveň informovanosti pacientů o scintigrafii skeletu a zjistit, jak jsou pacienti informováni od svých odesílajících lékařů před daným vyšetřením. Toto téma je v dnešní době dosti aktuální, protože mnoho pacientů neví, jak správně přijít na vyšetření připraveni a tahle neinformovanost může negativně ovlivnit celé vyšetření. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a praktickou část. V teoretické části jsem se zabývala popisem anatomie kostí, onemocněními kosterní soustavy, dále jsem zmínila něco málo o nukleární medicíně a následně jsem probrala důležitosti tohoto vyšetření. Praktická část je vytvořena na základě dotazníkového šetření, kde jsem se doptávala pacientů a následně udělala rozbor těchto údajů. Závěrem jsem zjistila, že pacienti jsou relativně dobře poučeni. Hodně záleží, z kterých odborností jsou pacienti odesílaní a jak pravidelně vyšetření absolvují. Také z některých odborností přišel například jen jeden pacient. Pro lékaře by tento výzkum měl být poučný, hlavně z důvodu, aby dbali na informovanost pacientů, a tedy vyšetření proběhlo, jak má a z mého zjištění jsou pacienti klidnější, když ví, jak se mají připravit a co je čeká.

Abstract:

My bachelor's thesis deals with skeletal scintigraphy. Its aim is to assess the level of patient awareness of skeletal scintigraphy and to find out how patients are informed by their referring physicians prior to the examination. This subject is quite topical nowadays, as many patients do not know how to be properlyprepared for the examination and this lack of awareness can negatively affect the entire procedure. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. In the theoretical part, I described the anatomy of the bones, diseases of the skeletal system, then I mentioned a few facts about nuclear medicine and afterwards I explained the importance of this examination. The practical part is based on a questionnaire survey where I asked patients and then made an analysis of the data. In conclusion, I found out that the patients were relatively well informed. A lot depends on which medical specialists are the patients referred from and how regularly they are examined. Some medical specialties were represented by one patient only. This research should be instructive for the doctors too, mainly because they need to make sure that patients are informed and therefore the examination goes well. Based on my findings, patients are calmer when they know how to prepare and what to expect.
