Business Information Systems and their usage in practise

Abstract:

Předkládaná diplomová práce se věnuje informačním systémům v podnikové praxi se zaměřením na oblast řízení servisu ve výrobní firmě. Hlavním cílem této práce je kriticky zhodnotit provedený výběr informačního systému ve vybraném podniku, ve vztahu k potřebám při řízeních činností záručního i pozáručního servisu a zároveň vyhodnotit rizika implementace a navrhnout možná opatření pro jejich minimalizaci. Úvodní kapitoly obsahují teoretická zdůvodnění významu informačních systémů, jeho úlohy ve firmě, rozebírá důležitost existence informační strategie a IT architektury. Samostatná kapitola je věnovaná lidskému faktoru pro úspěšnou realizaci IT projektu, rolí pozic CIO a CTO a také roli projektového řízení při takových složitých projektech, kterými implementace IT systémů jsou. Teoretickou část uzavírá problematika posuzování návratnosti investice do implementace IT systémů a analyzuje jeho specifika. Na tuto část práce navazuje analýza potřeb řízení servisu ve vybrané firmě, která působí v oblasti servisu kolejových vozidel a práce podrobně rozebírá hlavní specifika těchto potřeb. Samostatná oblast potřeb se týká řízení nákladů takového servisu, kterou by měl vybraný a následně implementovaný systém co nejvíce podporovat. Před zhodnocením vhodnosti vybraného systému práce ještě nabízí varianty řešení potřeb servisu. Další kapitola již kriticky hodnotí vhodnost vybraného systému IBM Maximo, především do jaké míry systém pokrývá dříve definované potřeby. Protože systém řízení servisu nemůže fungovat sám izolovaně od ostatních, práce také posuzuje rizika spojená s jeho integrací, a to zejména na podnikový ERP a PLM systém. Závěrem je shrnutí hlavních rizik spojených s projektem implementace, při kterých se práce opírá o teoretická východiska v úvodní části.

Abstract:

The thesis is devoted to information systems in company practice with a focus on service management in a manufacturing company. The main objective of this thesis is to critically evaluate the selection of information systems in the selected company in relation to the needs in the management of warranty and after-warranty service activities and to evaluate the risks of implementation and propose possible measures to minimize them. The introductory chapters contain theoretical justifications of the importance of information systems, its role in the company, discusses the importance of the existence of information strategy and IT architecture. A separate chapter is devoted to the human factor for successful IT project implementation, the roles of the CIO and CTO positions, and the role of project management in such complex projects as IT systems implementation. The theoretical part concludes with the issue of assessing the return on investment in IT systems implementation and analyses its specifics. This part of the thesis is followed by an analysis of the needs of service management in a selected company operating in the field of rolling stock servicing and the thesis analyses in detail the main specifics of these needs. A separate field of needs concerns the cost management of such service, which should be supported as much as possible by the selected and subsequently implemented system. Before evaluating the suitability of the selected system, the thesis offers alternative options to cover the service needs. The next chapter already critically evaluates the suitability of the selected IBM Maximo system by assessing to what extent the system covers the previously defined needs. Since the service IT system cannot operate alone in isolation from the others, the thesis also evaluates the risks associated with its integration, especially to the corporate ERP and PLM system. The thesis concludes by summarizing the main risks associated with the implementation project, and in doing so also draws on the theoretical background in the introductory part of the thesis.
