Analysis of persecution of male religious orders as demonstrated in Rudé právo in 1950

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou mediálního obrazu perzekuce církevních řádů a kongregací v 50. letech v Československu. Výzkumné období vymezuje zatčení předních představitelů řádů, soudní proces a dvě etapy takzvané „Akce K“. Zdrojem výzkumného materiálu je Rudé právo, ústřední tiskový orgán KSČ, a výzkumnou metodou diskursivní analýza v pojetí J. P. Geeho. Jako doplnění ideologické roviny analýzy slouží modi operandi ideologie definované J. B. Thompsonem. Cílem práce je popsání podoby a způsobu utváření mediálního obrazu a definice diskursivních modelů, které vystihují vytvářenou sociální realitu. První část práce přibližuje historický kontext výzkumu, druhá část popisuje zásadní teoretické koncepty. Následuje popsání metodologických postupů, které budou využity ve čtvrté, analytické části. Ke shrnutí poznatků a definici diskursivních modelů dojde v závěru.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the analysis of media representation of male religious orders persecution in 1950, as demonstrated in Rudé právo newspaper, which represented the worldview of Czechoslovakia communist party. The research period is limited by following events: the arrest of the main order representatives, the trial and two phases of so-called “Akce K”. James P. Gee’s discourse analysis conception was chosen as a research method. Modes of operation as defined by John B. Thompson were used to describe ideological levels of media representation. The aim of this research is to examine the reflection of the persecution in media and the ways of its creation, and to define discourse models which illustrates given social reality. The first part of the thesis focuses on the historical context, followed by the definition of theoretical concepts. The third part consists of methodology section, which is then applied in the following analytical part. Finally, the findings and discourse models definition are presented.
