Competencies of nursing staff in Pre-Anesthetic Clinic

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se snaží zjistit názor lékařů anesteziologů a anesteziologických sester na možnost přesunu části kompetencí z lékaře na sestru, při provádění předanestetického vyšetření. Studie byla vedena způsobem řízeného rozhovoru a snažila se zjistit stávající stav při provádění předanestetického vyšetření, ochotu lékařů přenést část kompetencí na NLZP a to s, nebo bez dohledu lékaře anesteziologa. Část otázek se snažila zjistit názory na schopnosti sester provádět jednotlivé části předanestetického vyšetření a na potenciální problémy s eventuálním přesunem kompetencí. Výsledky ukazují, že v současné době je jen minimum předanestetických vyšetření v ČR prováděno NLZP. Někteří tázající připouští, že by byli ochotni předat některé části předanestetického vyšetření do rukou sester. Tento názor však nekoreluje s úplnou ochotou předat toto vyšetření zcela do kompetence NLZP.

Abstract:

We conducted a questionnaire-based study investigating the stance of Czech anaesthetists and anaethetic nurses on the potential transfer of competencies from physician anaesthetists to non-physician health professionals in the preanesthetic assesment. The survey was led by autor as a controled interview investigating demographic characteristics, opinions about current practice in preanesthetic assesment, willingness to delegate tasks to anaesthetic nurses either with or without direct physician supervision. Some of the questions were focused on opinions about current abilities of non-physician staff to perform individual of preanaesthetic assesment and perceived challenges in the potential transfer of competencies. The results of our study suggest that minimal amount of preanaesthetic assesment in the Czech republic is being provided by non-physician staff. Some participants admit they would be happy to delegate some parts of preanaethetic assesment to be done by anaesthetic nurse. This fact is, however, not fully correlated with physicians' will to officially transfer full competencies for preanethetic assesment to anaesthetic nurses.
