Macroeconomic analysis of scandinavian countries during the expansion and contraction phase of economic cycle between 2000 and 2015

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je analýza makroekonomického vývoje skandinávských zemí v expanzní a kontrakční fázi hospodářského cyklu mezi lety 2000 a 2015. Analyzovány jsou indikátory vnitřní a vnější rovnováhy, trhu práce a vývoj cen nemovitostí závislosti na období před Velkou recesí a po ní. Ústřední hypotézou práce je to, že analyzované země se vypořádaly s krizí lépe, díky svému lepšímu postavení před ní. V rámci teoretické části jsou vysvětleny teoreticko-metodologické přístupy využívané v makroekonomických analýzách a jednotlivé indikátory použité v empirické části. Empirická část pak monitoruje vybrané indikátory hospodářského cyklu a dává je do kontextu s fiskálními a monetárními opatřeními jednotlivých zemí. Součástí je dále SWOT analýza sloužící k ověření hypotézy, vlastní predikce vývoje růstu HDP, která je srovnána s predikcí OECD.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the macroeconomic development of the Scandinavian countries in the expansion and contraction phase of the economic cycle between 2000 and 2015. Thesis contains analysis of indicators of internal and external equilibrium, labor market and development of real estate prices, depending on the period before and after the Great Recession. The central hypothesis of the thesis is that the analyzed countries have been better off with the crisis due to their better position before the crisis. Within the theoretical part are explained the theoretical and methodological approaches used in macroeconomic analyzes and indicators used in empirical part. The empirical part monitors selected indicators of the business cycle and puts them in context with the fiscal and monetary measures of each country. Next part of the thesis includes SWOT analysis, which serves as an intrument of hypotheses verification and own forecasts of GDP growth, which is compared with the OECD forecast.
