Protectionism in foreign trade between the EU and the USA

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá protekcionismem, jeho uplatněním a dopady na mezinárodní obchod 21. století. Důraz je kladen především na protekcionismus uplatňovaný mezi Spojenými státy a Evropskou unií. Během administrativy Donalda Trumpa se začaly obchodní vztahy vyostřovat a protekcionismus se stupňoval na obou stranách. Transatlantické vztahy byly přetrhány a po prohlášení bývalého amerického prezidenta, o zavedení vysokých cel na dovoz z EU v automobilovém průmyslu, byla obchodní válka na spadnutí. Naděje na znovuobnovení vztahů a navázání diskuse přišla se zvolením Joea Bidena, coby nového amerického prezidenta.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with protectionism, its application and impacts on international trade in the 21st century. The emphasis is mainly on protectionism between the United States and the European Union. During Donald Trump's ad-ministration, trade relations began to intensify, and protectionism escalated on both sides. Transatlantic relations have been severed, and after a statement by the former US president to impose high tariffs on EU imports in the automotive indus-try, the trade war was on the wane. The hope of re-establishing relations and es-tablishing a discussion came with the election of Joe Biden as the new American president.
