Diplomová práca sa zaoberá ekonomickou a finančnou krízou. Pomocou deskriptívnej analýzy skúma hlavné príčiny, ktoré viedli k jej vzniku, opisuje priebeh a dôsledky krízy v USA a v krajinách Európy. Práca je rozdelená na tri hlavné kapitoly. Prvá kapitola charakterizuje ekonomickú a finančnú krízu a vysvetľuje vývoj teórie finančných kríz.
