Criteria for selecting a suitable system solution for a manufacturing company

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na problematiku kritérií pro výběr vhodného systémového řešení ve výrobním podniku. Jádrem výrobního podniku je systém ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), který často v rámci výrobních podniků spolupracuje se systémem MES (Manufacturing Execution System). Tyto dva systémy mimo jiné podporují proces samotné výroby, která přináší hlavní přidanou hodnotu. Při rozvoji těchto systémů podniky naráží na problém, zda pokračovat se stávajícími systémy či například nepřejít k jiným poskytovatelům. Takovéto rozhodnutí nelze brát na lehkou váhu, jelikož to ovlivní působení celé firmy na několik let dopředu a nesprávné rozhodnutí může podnik stát spoustu finančních prostředků. Cílem práce je vytvoření modelu (sestaveného z identifikovaných kritérií ovlivňující takováto rozhodování a návodu, jak dále postupovat) a následně jej prověřit na konkrétním výrobním podniku, který aktuálně takovýto problém řeší neboli provést komparaci zvažovaných možných řešení dle nalezených kritérií, zvolit vhodné systémové řešení a případně navrhnout další postup. Model je vytvořen pomocí metody Design science research. V úvodu práce je popsána struktura práce a jsou definovány cíle. Je také popsána konkrétní společnost, na které se model prověří, kterou je výrobní podnik vyrábějící kabely a vodiče. U tohoto výrobního podniku, ve kterém při tvorbě této práce pracuje autor práce, je také zanalyzován současný stav IT včetně systémového řešení. V další části, věnované metodě je pospán zvažovaný postup a zvolená metoda Design science research, pomocí které je vytvořen model. Ve třetí části jsou uvedeny výsledky práce, a to konkrétně již vytvořený model (tvořen seznamem 58 kritérií a návodem, jak dále postupovat). Jsou identifikováni stakeholdeři a s nimi jsou provedeny rozhovory, při nichž jsou zjištěny důležitosti jednotlivých kritérií pro následnou komparaci. Nakonec této kapitoly je provedena komparace možných řešení pomocí vytvořeného modelu (využití kvantitativní a kvalitativní metody vícekriteriálního rozhodování), z níž vyplývá nejvhodnější varianta. V poslední části jsou diskutovány výsledky práce, tedy výsledky komparace i samotný model. Je navržen další postup pro daný podnik a je uveden další možný směr výzkumu. V závěru práce je diskutováno naplnění cílů práce.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the issue of criteria for selecting a suitable system solution in a manufacturing company. The core of a manufacturing enterprise is the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system, which often works in combination with the MES (Manufacturing Execution System). These two systems, among other things, support the manufacturing process itself, which brings the main added value. When evolving these systems, companies face the problem of whether to continue with existing systems or, for example, to switch to other providers. Such a decision should not be taken lightly, as it will affect the operation of the entire company for several years to come and the wrong decision can cost the company a lot of money. The aim of this thesis is to create a model (made up of identified criteria influencing such decisions and a guide on how to proceed) and then to test it on a specific manufacturing company that is currently solving such a problem (in other words to make a comparison of the possible solutions considered according to the criteria found, to choose a suitable system solution and possibly to propose a further course of action). The model is created using the Design science research method. The structure of the thesis is described in the introduction and the objectives are defined. The specific company on which the model will be tested is also described, which is a cable manufacturing company. For this manufacturing company, in which the author of this thesis works during the creation of this thesis, the current state of IT including the system solution is also analysed. In the next section, devoted to the method, the considered procedure and the chosen method of Design science research, by means of which the model is created, are described. In the third part, the results of the work are presented, specifically the created model (consisting of a list of 58 criteria and instructions on how to proceed). Stakeholders are identified and interviewed to determine the importance of each criterion for further comparison. At the end of this chapter, a comparison of the possible solutions is made using the created model (using quantitative and qualitative multi-criteria decision making methods), resulting in the most suitable option. In the last section, the results of the work (the results of the comparison and the model itself) are discussed. A further course of action for the enterprise is suggested and a possible direction of research is given. The thesis concludes with a discussion of the fulfilment of the objectives of the thesis.
