Occurrence of common pipistrelles, Pipistrellus pipistrellus in the city of Brno

Abstract:

Předložená diplomová práce se zabývá výskytem netopýrů hvízdavých na území města Brna. Součástí práce je literární rešerše, která se zabývá synurbanizací netopýrů hvízdavých a shrnuje dostupné informace týkající se jejich výskytu, úkrytové strategie a letové aktivity v prostředí urbánního charakteru. V další části práce je analyzován výskyt netopýrů hvízdavých ve městě Brně, kde má tento druh mezi ostatními letouny dominantní postavení. Na základě obdržených dat byly posuzovány úkrytové a také biotopové preference tohoto druhu. Zdá se, že netopýři hvízdaví dávají nejčastěji přednost úkrytům ve starých budovách a štěrbinovým úkrytům v panelových domech, které se nacházejí relativně blízko zeleně či vody. V práci jsou dále zkoumány také sezónní a časové změny ve frekvenci výskytu. Z výsledků je patrné, že se netopýři hvízdaví na území města Brna vyskytují stále častěji a jejich areál výskytu se rozšiřuje z centra města zejména do nově vybudovaných okrajových panelových sídlišť. Netopýři hvízdaví se v Brně vyskytují v průběhu celého roku a jejich nejhojnější výskyt bývá pravidelně zaznamenán na přelomu srpna a září.

Abstract:

The presented thesis is focused on the occurrence of common pipistrelles in the city of Brno. The work includes a literature review, which deals with synurbanization of common pipistrelles and summarizes available information relating to their occurrence, roost strategies and flight activities in an environment of urban character. The second part analyzes the occurrence of common pipistrelles in Brno, where this species holds a dominant position among other Chiroptera. Based on the obtained data shelter and habitat preferences of this species were assessed. It seems to be the most common pipistrelles which prefers shelters in old buildings and slit shelters in prefabricated houses, located relatively near to water or the green. In this work seasonal and temporal changes in frequency of pipistrelles are also examined. The results show that common pipistrelles living in Brno are becoming more frequent and their distribution area is extending from the city center especially to newly built prefabricated houses in housing estates on the periphery of Brno. Common pipistrelles can be seen in Brno throughout the whole year and their abundant occurrence is regularly recorded between August and September.
