Anotácia:

Tato diplomová práce s názvem The syntactic and semantic properties of verbs in administrative texts zkoumá slovesa nacházející se ve dvou typech administrativních textů - právnických a obchodních. Slovesa budou hodnocena na základě jejich významu a gramatických forem. Tato práce sestává ze dvou částí - teoretické a praktické. Teoretická část uvádí důležité aspekty stylistiky a sloves a praktická část se zaměřuje na sémantickou a gramatickou analýzu všech 504 vybraných sloves. Hlavním cílem této práce je klasifikace nasbíraného jazykového materiálu do předem stanovených sémantických a gramatických kategorií a zjistit, které kategorie se v korpusu objevují. Analýzy následně ukážou poměrné zastoupení sloves v obou kategoriích. Tato práce bude také zkoumat, jak se typ administrativního dokumentu vztahuje k výběru významu a gramatické formy sloves. Předpokládá se také, že bude objevena korelace mezi významem a gramatickou realizací sloves.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis titled The syntactic and semantic properties of verbs in administrative texts studies verbs which occur in two kinds of administrative texts – legal and business documents. The verbs will be examined according to their meaning and grammatical forms. The work consists of two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part introduces important aspects of stylistics and verbs and the practical part focuses on the semantic and grammatical analysis of the 504 selected verbs. The chief goal of this work is to classify the collected language material into the pre-defined semantic and grammatical categories and to find out which categories are possible to be found in the corpus. Subsequently, the analyses will show the proportional representation of verbs in both categories. The thesis also undertakes to explore how the type of administrative text relates to the choice of both meaning and grammatical forms of verbs. It is also assumed that some correlation between the meaning and the grammatical realization of the verbs will be identified.
