Inclusion of foreign pupils in primary mainstream schools on the example pupils of the Vietnamese minority

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou inkluze žáků-cizinců na českých základních školách, konkrétně na prvním stupni základní školy, se zaměřením na vzdělávání žáků z vietnamské menšiny. Diplomová práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a praktickou část. V teoretické části jsou blíže popsány pojmy, kutikulární dokumenty a odborná východiska zaměřující se na vzdělávání žáků-cizinců. V kapitole o inkluzivním vzdělávání jsou popsány principy a strategie podporující inkluzivní vzdělávání. Dále jsou zde uvedena vybraná specifika vietnamské kultury a konkretizovány možnosti škol při vzdělávání žáků s nedostatečnou znalostí vyučovacího jazyka. Praktickou část diplomové práce tvoří kazuistiky vietnamských dětí, které studují na základních školách v Brně. V kazuistikách je důraz kladen na proces inkluze, problémy plynoucí se zařazováním žáků-cizinců do běžných tříd a metody, které tomuto procesu napomáhají. Výzkum probíhal kvalitativními metodami, tedy nestrukturovaným pozorováním ve třídě a polo-strukturovanými rozhovory s jednotlivými žáky a jejich učiteli. Cílem práce je popsat, jakým způsobem lze efektivně začlenit žáky-cizince do výuky, a poskytnou tedy hlubší pohled na problematiku inkluze vietnamských dětí na českých základních školách.

Abstract:

This master thesis deals with the inclusion of the foreign students at the Czech elementary schools, specifically at primary school, with the focus on the education of the students of the Vietnamese minority. The thesis is divided into the theoretical part and the practical part. In the theoretical part, the basic terms, the curriculum documents and the theoretical bases focused on the education of the foreign students are described. The principles and the strategies supporting the inclusive education are described in the chapter of the inclusive education. Further, the selected specifics of the Vietnamese culture are also specified and the possibilities of elementary schools in the education of the students with the insufficient knowledge of the teaching language are concretized. The practical part of the thesis consists of the case studies of the Vietnamese children studying in the primary schools in Brno. The emphasis insists on the process of the inclusion, the problems arising from the inclusion of the foreign pupils into the regular classes and the methods that facilitate this process. The research was conducted by the qualitative methods, such as the unstructured observation in the classroom and the semi-structured interviews with the individual pupils and their teachers. The objective of the thesis is to describe, how the foreign pupils can be effectively integrated into the education, and thus it provides a deeper look at the issue of the inclusion of the Vietnamese children in the Czech elementary schools.
