Preussler's "Herr Klingsor could do a little magic" in the context of problem-oriented children's and youth literature

Abstract:

The subject of this thesis is an analysis of Preußler's lesser-known 1987 book Herr Klingsor konnte ein bißchen zaubern. The first part of the thesis deals with the author and the circumstances of his life that shaped his writing career. The second part deals with the literary tendencies of the 1950s and 1960s, when Preußler became an icon of children's literature. The literary tendencies of the 1970s and 1980s, when the term problemoriented literature became established in the KJL, are described in chapter three. At this point, criticism of Preußler's work is also mentioned. In the last part of this thesis, in the analysis of the book, the psychological overlap of the depicted problems of the child characters is taken into account. The aim of this thesis is to determine what children's problems are thematized here, how they are literarily portrayed, and to what extent the solutions offered here are still relevant today.

Tématem této diplomové práce je analýza Preußlerovy méně známé knihy Herr Klingsor konnte ein bißchen zaubern z roku 1987. První část práce pojednává o autorovi a jeho životních okolnostech, které formovaly jeho spisovatelkou dráhu. Druhá část se zabývá literárními tendencemi 50.a 60.let, kdy se Preußler stal ikonou dětské literatury. Literární tendence 70. a 80.let, kdy se v KJL etabluje termín problemorientierte literatur popisuje kapitola třetí. Na tomto místě je také zmíněna kritika Preußlerovy tvorby. V poslední části této diplomové práce, při vlastní analýze knihy, je kladen zřetel na psychologický přesah znázorněných problémů dětských představitelů. Cílem této práce je určit, jaké problémy dětí jsou zde tématizovány, jak jsou literárně ztvárněny a do jaké míry jsou zde nabízená řešení aktuální i dnes.
