Gender Inequality in the Labor Market

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá genderovými nerovnostmi na trhu práce, faktory ovlivňujícími její vznik a bojem s ní. V prvních kapitolách jsou obsaženy definice základních pojmů, jako jsou diskriminace, rovnost, genderová nerovnost a odkazy na právní řád a jeho řešení. Dále jsou v práci rozebrány faktory ovlivňující postavení žen na trhu práce, nerovné postavení žen z důvodů mateřství a rodičovství a také nerovné platové ohodnocení. V poslední části je řešena judikatura věnující se tomuto typu diskriminace, a to jak českých soudu, tak soudů evropských – především Evropského soudního dvora.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with gender inequality in the labor market, factors influencing its formation and struggle with it. The first chapters contain definitions of basic terms such as discrimination, equality, gender inequality and references to the rule of law and its solution. The work analyzes not only the factors affecting the status of women in the labor market but also the unequal position of women due to motherhood and parenting as well as unequal salaries. The last part deals with the case law dedicated to this type of discrimination, both Czech courts and European courts – especially European Court of Justice.
