Evaluation of blood pressure variability and arterial stiffness as predictive factors of cardiovascular diseases in healthy persons

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis was to evaluate the variability of blood pressure expressed by the magnitude of the nocturnal fall in blood pressure and arterial stiffness determined by ambulatory arterial stiffness index values in a group of 50 healthy volunteers who underwent sevenday/24-hour blood pressure monitoring. The data obtained during the monitoring were subsequently evaluated, and the diurnal index values determining the magnitude of the nocturnal fall in blood pressure were calculated mathematically, as were the values of the ambulatory arterial stiffness index. In the thesis, the average resulting values for 7 days were statistically compared with each other in order to prove or disprove the relationship between the individual monitored parameters and their variability during the monitored days. No statistically significant relationship was demonstrated for the monitored parameters except for the mean values of systolic and diastolic diurnal index over 7 days and the relationship between the mean value of the ambulatory arterial stiffness index over 7 days and the mean value of the diastolic diurnal index over 7 days where a statistically significant result was demonstrated.

Abstract:

Cieľom diplomovej práce bolo vyhodnotiť variabilitu krvného tlaku vyjadrenú veľkosťou nočného poklesu krvného tlaku a arteriálnou tuhosťou určenou hodnotami indexu ambulantnej arteriálnej tuhosti v skupine 50 zdravých dobrovoľníkov, ktorí podstúpili sedemdňové/24-hodinové monitorovanie tlaku krvi. Údaje získané v priebehu monitorovania boli následne vyhodnotené, matematicky boli dopočítané hodnoty diurnálnych indexov určujúcich veľkosť nočného poklesu tlaku krvi, rovnako ako aj hodnoty indexu ambulantnej arteriálnej tuhosti. V diplomovej práci boli priemerné výsledné hodnoty za 7 dní navzájom štatisticky porovnávané s cieľom preukázať, prípadne vyvrátiť vzťah medzi jednotlivými sledovanými parametrami a ich variabilitou v priebehu monitorovaných dní. U sledovaných parametrov nebol preukázaný štatisticky významný vzťah s výnimkou priemerných hodnôt systolického a diastolického diurnálneho indexu za 7 dní a vzťahom priemernej hodnoty indexu ambulantnej arteriálnej tuhosti za 7 dní a priemernou hodnotou diastolického diurnálneho indexu za 7 dní, kde bol preukázaný štatisticky významný výsledok.
