Local Elections and Deputies in Litomyšl in years 1914–1941

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá analýzou obecních voleb východočeského města Litomyšle převážně z prvorepublikového období. Záměrem práce je jednak zjištění stranického rozvrstvení zastupitelstva, a jednak personální charakteristiky zastupitelů a kandidátů. Informace o pohlaví, bydlišti a povolání následně slouží k porovnání mezi volebními subjekty a také ke komparaci s litomyšlským voličstvem. Kromě těchto hledisek práce sleduje i proměnu zastupitelského sboru s důrazem jak na stranickou kontinuitu, tak na personální stabilitu zastupitelů a kandidátů. Práce nezapomíná ani na úvodní teoretickou část, ve které jsou nejdříve obecně popsány programy a voličské základny těch celostátních politických stran, které působily i v Litomyšli. Text se také snaží objasnit strukturu města a tím i možné elity, které měly výrazné šance na zastoupení v obecním zastupitelstvu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of local elections in the East Bohemian city Litomyšl mainly from the First Republic period. The aim of the thesis is to find out the party stratification in the municipal assembly and the personal characteristics of deputies and candidates, too. The discovered information about gender, place of residence and occupation is then used for comparison between electoral subjects and for comparison with the city electorate. In addition to these aspects, the thesis follows the transformation of municipal assembly with focus on the party continuity and personal stability of deputies and candidates. The thesis contains a theoretical part too, which describes programs and potential voters of those political parties which were part of political system in Litomyšl. Subsequently, the theoretical part tries to clarify the structure of city and possible elites which were likely to be represented in the municipal assembly.
