Agile software project management

Abstract:

Svět businessu se díky nejmodernějším technologiím rozvíjí více než kdykoli v minulosti. Firmy se musejí změnám, ať již přicházejí zevnitř nebo zvenčí, rychle přizpůsobovat a odpovídat na ně. Ve světě managementu je pak agilní řízení novým, moderním způsobem řízení společností, který vytěsňuje jeho tradiční modely. V agilním způsobu řízení se klíčovými stávají týmy, které jsou autonomními organizačními jednotkami a navzájem spolu kooperují. Tyto změny se projevují i ve značné změně role manažera. V úvodu této práce bude popsán popsán tradiční způsob projektového řízení vývoje softwaru, dále potom jeho agilní metody, a to s hlavním důrazem na metodu SCRUM. Tato metoda bude poté podrobně rozpracována na konkrétním případě jedné z telekomunikačních společností operujících na českém trhu, která na agilní řízení vývoje softwaru právě přechází. Cílem této práce je porovnat výhody a nevýhody obou typů projektového řízení, popsat fungování agilní metody Scrum na konkrétním případě a rovněž zachytit změny ve fungování pozice manažera v agilním řízení.

Abstract:

Thanks to the most modern technologies, the world of business has been developing more than ever before. The companies have to face and adapt the changes, whether coming from in- or outside, and respond to them very fast. In the world of management, agile management is a new, modern way of managing companies that displaces its traditional models. In agile management the key is that the teams are becoming autonomous organizational units and cooperate with each other. These changes are also reflected in a significant change in a role of the manager.In the introduction of this thesis, there will be described the traditional way of project management software development and afterwards the agile methods, with the main emphasis on the SCRUM method. This method will be then described in detail on a specific case of one of the telecommunications companies operating on the Czech market, which is currently moving on agile software development management. The aim of this work is to compare the advantages and disadvantages of both types of project management, to describe the functioning of the agile Scrum method on a particular case and also to capture the changes in the manager's position in agile management.
