Empowerment in Social Service of the Sheltered Housing

Abstract:

Předkládaná diplomová práce se věnuje problematice empowermentu v sociální službě chráněného bydlení. Teoretická část pojednává o vymezení pojmu empowerment jak na obecné úrovni, tak v konkrétní podobě ve specifickém prostředí sociální služby chráněného bydlení s orientací na cílovou skupinu osob s mentálním postižením. Výzkum prezentovaný v praktické části se zaměřuje na sociální službu chráněného bydlení jako celek. V jeho rámci jsme využili kvalitativní výzkumnou strategii, kde cílem bylo zjistit, jak je uplatňován empowerment v sociální službě chráněného bydlení. Jakožto techniky sběru dat jsme zvolili focusovou skupinu s uživateli služby, studium dokumentů a brainstorming s pracovníky chráněného bydlení. V rámci analýzy dat byla využita zakotvená teorie a SWOT analýza. Z výsledků výzkumu vyplynulo, že hlavním znakem empowermentu v sociální službě chráněného bydlení je umožnění a uplatňování vlastní iniciativy a volby uživatelů, který vede k jejich individuálnímu rozhodování a přebírání odpovědnosti za sebe samé společně s možností konání vlastních chyb, poučení se z nich a přijetí za součást svého každodenního života.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the issue of empowerment in social service of sheltered housing. The theoretical part deals with the definition of empowerment both at the general level and in the form within the specific environment related to social services of sheltered housing with a focus on the target group of people with mental disabilities. The research presented in the practical part is focused on social services of the sheltered housing. In this project, we have used qualitative research strategy, where the aim was to find out how empowerment in the social service of sheltered housing is applied. As the techniques of data collection, we have chosen focus group of the service users, the study of documents and brainstorming with employees of the sheltered housing. For the analysis of obtained data, SWOT analysis was used. The research has shown that the main feature of empowerment in social service of the sheltered housing is to endorse residents' initiatives as well as their choices, which leads to their individual decisions. Furthermore, thus, they take responsibility for themselves, along with the possibility of making their own mistakes, learning from them and accepting them as part of their everyday life.
