The quality of life of family raising a child with Down syndrome

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce na téma Kvalita života rodiny vychovávající dítě s Downovým syndromem se skládá z teoretické a výzkumné části. Teoretickou část tvoří dvě kapitoly, část výzkumnou kapitola jedna. Práce se zabývá podstatou Downova syndromu a analýzou kvality rodinného života s dítětem trpícího Downovým syndromem. V první kapitole je stručně vymezen pojem Downův syndrom a jeho historický původ. Tato kapitola je dále zaměřena na etiologii, fyziognomické zvláštnosti a formy postižení, uvedena je i souvislost Downova syndromu s mentálním postižením. Druhá kapitola se zabývá rodinným životem osob, které vychovávají dítě s postižením, způsobem přijetí dítěte a výchovou. Třetí kapitola výzkumného charakteru se věnuje případové studii šestnáctileté dívky s Downovým syndromem. Kapitola obsahuje výzkumné otázky, metodologii, charakteristiku výzkumného prostředí i informantky. V závěru třetí kapitoly je vyhodnocení výzkumných otázek.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis entitled The Quality of Life of Family Raising a Child with Down Syndrome consists of a theoretical and a research part. The theoretical part is composed of two chapters, the research section includes one chapter. The thesis deals with the essence of Down syndrome and the analysis of the quality of family life with a child suffering from Down syndrome. In the first chapter the term Down syndrome and its historical origin are briefly defined. This chapter is also focused on etiology, physiognomic peculiarities, forms of disabilities and connection of Down syndrome with the mental retardation. The second chapter deals with the family life of people who are raising a child with a disability, the way of acceptance of a child and their education. The third chapter of research character is devoted to the case study of a sixteen-year-old girl with Down syndrome. The chapter includes research questions, methodology, characteristic of the research environment and the informant. At the end of the third chapter there is the evaluation of the research questions.
