Coping strategies of adolescents in regard to pandemic situation COVID-19

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá problémy, se kterými se adolescenti setkávají v době pandemie, copingovými strategiemi, které v této době využívají, úrovní jejich well-beingu a vztahem mezi těmito proměnnými. Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 533 dospívajících ve věku 16-18 let. Sběr dat proběhl prostřednictvím online dotazníku. Copingové strategie byly zjišťovány pomocí CASQ, pro měření závažnosti problémů byl na základě současných výzkumů vytvořen inventář a well-being byl měřen pomocí vybraných položek BSW-Y. Dle výsledků zpracovaných metodami kvantitativního výzkumu se dospívajících nejvíce týkaly problémy v oblasti studia, technologií a komunity. Dále bylo potvrzeno, že dívky reportují vyšší závažnost problémů než chlapci v devíti ze třinácti problémových oblastí, stejně tak míra závažnosti napříč všemi oblastmi je významně vyšší u dívek než u chlapců. Na základě věku byl nalezen pouze slabý rozdíl v oblasti důležitých událostí. Výsledky ukázaly, že dospívající nejvíce užívali aktivní copingový styl, naopak nejméně užívali copingový styl ústup. Potvrdil se středně silný vztah mezi mírou závažnosti problémů a well-beingem, přičemž ovšem nebylo potvrzeno, že by některý ze tří copingových stylů ovlivňoval tento vztah.

Abstract:

The thesis is about problems which adolescents encounter during pandemic time, usage of coping strategies, well-being levels and the relationship between these variables. Research set contains 533 questionnaires of adolescents from 16 to 18 years old. Data collection was provided by online questionnaires forms. Coping strategies were analyzed by CASQ method, problem severity measuring was solved by creating inventory based on current research and well-being levels were measured by selected items of BSW-Y. According to quantitative research, results show the most severe problem was in the studies, technology and social domain. It was confirmed that it is more likely that females are reporting more problems than males in 9 of 13 areas of research and also level of problems severity is higher in females than males. There was found only slight age difference in important events. Results showed that active coping was used the most, on the other hand withdrawal coping style was used the least. Moderately strong relationship was found between severe levels of the problems and well-being. However, it could not be verified that any of the coping style is affecting this relationship.
