Contemporary Forms of Political Theatre

Abstract:

Ve své práci skrze analýzu tří aktuálních inscenací zkoumám, co dnes znamená pojem politické divadlo. Tvrdím, že politická může veškerá divadelní činnost, jelikož se vždy děje v konkrétním časoprostoru a společném kontextu. Pro účely práce si však definici političnosti v divadle zužuji na takovou divadelní činnost, jež splňuje některý ze tří parametrů, které jsem si za politické stanovila – způsob přípravy inscenace, explicitně politické téma a také přístup k recipientům a definování jejich divácké pozice v inscenaci. Cílem je zreflektovat z tohoto hlediska vlastní tvorbu především v průběhu magisterského studia a popsat, jak dnes mohu jako divadelní tvůrce k političnosti divadla přistupovat a proč se to považuji z tvůrčího hlediska za přínosné.

Abstract:

In my thesis, through the analysis of three current theatre productions, I examine what can the term political theatre mean today. I claim that all theatrical activity can be political, because it always takes place in a specific space, time and in a common and shared context. For the purposes of my work, however, I narrow the definition of political in theatre to such theatrical activity, which meets one of the three parameters that I had set as such. Either the method of preparation, explicitly political theme and approach to recipients or defining of the position of the audience in the production. The aim is to reflect my own work from this point of view, especially the work I did during my master's degree. I am describing how can I, as a nowadays theatre maker, approach the political in theatre and why do I find it beneficial to deal with it from the creative point of view.
