Diplomová práce je rozdělena do dvou celků, v první části se zabývá pojmem zvíře tak, jak je definován v jednotlivých právních odvětvích českého právního řádu, a rozborem pojmů souvisejících. Druhá část práce se zaměřuje na rozbor vybraných trestných činů souvisejících s ochranou zvířat v českém trestním právu, a také srovnání české právní úpravy s právní úpravou Slovenské republiky.
