Prevention of Dental Caries in Adults

Abstract:

Tématem bakalářské práce je prevence vzniku zubního kazu u dospělých osob. Toto téma je dosti zajímavé a málo diskutované. Jedná se o práci průzkumně – výzkumnou. Skládá se ze dvou částí. První část je teoretická a zmiňuje se o stomatologii a její historii, o anatomii dutiny ústní, o skladbě a typech zubů. Zaměřena je na problematiku vzniku zubního kazu u dospělých osob, na příčiny, příznaky, klasifikaci, komplikace, rizikové faktory a terapii. Teoretická část se však nejvíce zaměřuje na prevenci a preventivní prohlídky u stomatologů. Popisuje tři základní stupně prevence, a to primární, sekundární a terciální prevenci ve vztahu k zubnímu kazu. Nedílnou součástí je zmínka zejména o celkové hygieně dutiny ústní, ale také o dentální hygieně a její roli v této preventivní péči. V praktické části je popsána metodika průzkumu s následnou prezentací zjištěných informací v oblasti prevence vzniku zubního kazu. V této části je podstatné dle zadaných cílů stanovit, jak jsou dospělé osoby informovány v oblasti prevence vzniku zubního kazu. V první řadě zjistit, zda chodí na pravidelné preventivní prohlídky ke svému stomatologovi a zda-li správně pečují o dutinu ústní. Výzkumné šetření bylo provedeno formou anonymního dotazníku v tištěné podobě. Vyhodnocení je provedeno formou tabulek a grafů doplněných komentářem. Dotazníkové šetření zjišťuje, zda si alespoň polovina dotazovaných lidí čistí zuby dvakrát denně v délce 3–4 minuty a zda pravidelně 1krát za šest měsíců chodí na pravidelné prohlídky ke svému stomatologovi. Většina respondentů udává, že životní styl má podle nich největší vliv na vývoj a tvorbu zubního kazu. Pravidelná a důkladná péče o dutinu ústní je tou nejlepší prevencí, protože předcházet nemoci je vždy výhodnější než její samotná léčba. V závěru bakalářské práce se nachází analýza zjištěných informací, shrnutí výsledků průzkumného šetření a jsou zde formulována doporučení pro praxi.

Abstract:

The topic of bachelor thesis is the prevention of tooth decay in adults. This topic is quite interesting and little discussed. This is a theoretical – researchwork. It consists of two parts. The first part is theoretical, which mentions dentistry and its history, the anatomy of the oral cavity, the composition and types of teeth. Focused on the development of the dental caries in adults, the causes, symptoms, classification, complications, risk factors and therapy. However, the theoretical part is mostly focused on prevention and preventive examinations and dentists. It describes three basic stage on prevention, namely primary, secondary and tertiary prevention on relation to tooth decay. An integral part is the mention on overall oral hygiene, but also about dental hygiene in the field of this preventive care. The practical part describes the research methodology, followed by the presentation of the information obtained in the field of dental caries prevention. In this part, it is essential to determine how adults are informed in the field of caries prevention according to the set goals. First of all, find out if they go for regular preventive check-ups at their dentistry and whether they take proper care of the oral activity. The research was in the form of an anonymous questionnaire in printed form. The eveluation is perform in the form of tables and graphs together with comments. A questionnaire survey finds out whether at least half of the interviewed people brush their teeth twice a day for 3–4 minutes, regularly once every six months the goes for regular check-ups at his dentist. Most respondents state that lifestyle has the greatest influence on the development and formation of tooth decay. Regular and thorough oral care is the best prevention, because preventing the disease is always more beneficial than its own treatment. At the end of the bachelor´s thesis, there is an analysis of the information obtained, a summary of the result of the survey and there are recommendations for practice.
