V rámci etnografické části práce představí prostředí dokumentárního a antropologického filmu, kde a jakým způsobem tyto filmy vznikají, co jejich tvorbu ovlivňuje a na koho cílí. Pomocí zúčastněného pozorování práce seznamuje čtenáře s dokumentaristy, jaké jsou jejich názory, postupy práce, motivace a jak se od sebe liší dokumentaristi ze sociálně vědních oborů a z filmových škol.
