Creative accounting - methods and techniques of prevention

Abstract:

Jedním z hlavních cílů této bakalářské práce je odpovědět na otázku, jak nejlépe zabránit a předejít praktikování kreativního účetnictví a jaké metody do něho spadají. Abych byl schopen na tuto otázku najít odpověď, je potřeba nejprve definovat, jak je kreativní účetnictví vnímáno, jaké metody do něj spadají a jakou má souvislost s podvodným jednáním. Tím se zabývám v teoretické části. V praktické části se zaměřím na popis několika konkrétních účetních skandálů a dále popíši výsledky celosvětového průzkumu týkající se kreativního účetnictví. V závěrečné kapitole popisuji způsoby boje proti kreativnímu účetnictví a jak mu nejlépe zabránit. V této kapitole využívám znalostí získaných v kapitolách předchozích. Nejlepší obranou proti praktikování kreativního účetnictví je jeho prevence. Prevencí je myšleno neustálé zpřísňování regulatorních opatření, která budou zmenšovat manévrovací prostor pro tvůrce kreativního účetnictví. Kromě toho je velmi důležité zavedení dostatečně výkonného systému vnitřní kontroly, který bude dohlížet, zda nedochází k porušování zákonů. Významnou úlohu v boji hrají i auditorské společnosti a samotní zaměstnanci společnosti, kteří mohou upozornit na určité nesrovnalosti nebo rovnou na samotné podvodné jednání.

Abstract:

One of the main goals of this bachelor thesis is to answer the question what is the best way to prevent the practice of creative accounting and what methods fall into it. In order to be able to find an answer to this question, it is first necessary to define how creative accounting is perceived what methods fall into it and how it relates to fraud. I deal with this in the theoretical part. In the practical part I will focus on the description of several specific accounting scandals and further describe the results of a worldwide survey on creative accounting. In the final chapter I describe ways to combat creative accounting and the best way to prevent it. In this chapter I use the knowledge gained in the previous chapters.The best defense against the practice of creative accounting is its prevention. Prevention means the constant tightening of regulatory measures that will reduce the room for maneuver for creators of creative accounting. In addition, it is very important to put in place a sufficiently powerful internal control system to monitor infringements. Audit firms and the company's employees themselves also play an important role in the fight as they can point out certain irregularities or even fraud.
