Smart Grids sa stávajú čím ďalej tým populárnejšie z dôvodu ich efektívnosti v dodávke elektrickej energie. Organizácie na celom svete budujú vlastné Smart Grid Laboratórie (SG Labs) na vykonávanie výskumných aktivít týkajúcich sa simulácií a testovania Smart Grid.
