Prestige of policman´s profession in the czech society

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou prestiže povolání, konkrétně prestiží profese policisty. Na základě zúčastněného pozorování, ale i rozhovorů realizovaných zejména s osobami z řad laické veřejnosti, která je ovšem legitimním kritikem práce, resp. posuzovatelem výkonu činností delegovaných policistům Policie České republiky a strážníkům policie městské, byly generovány základní rámce s cílem práce a specifickým hodnocením. Hlavním cílem práce je zjistit pozici profese policisty Policie České republiky v Havířově z pohledu samotného policisty na škále prestiže povolání a porovnat tyto výsledky s dříve zjištěným celorepublikovým hodnocením prestiže povolání. Praktická část dále pojednává, jak prestiž profese policisty Policie České republiky v Havířově vnímá veřejnost, policisté Policie České republiky a strážníci Městské policie. Dalším cílem práce je prestiž profese strážníka Městské policie v Havířově a také prestiž profese příslušníka Veřejné Bezpečnosti před rokem 1989 z pohledu veřejnosti, policistů Policie České republiky a strážníků Městské policie. K realizaci praktické části byla použita metodu anonymního nestandardizovaného dotazníku, výsledky následně vyhodnoceny. Na základě zjištěných výsledků lze konstatovat, že se shodly postoje Havířovských policistů s postoji celorepublikovými. Policisté považují svou vlastní profesi ve srovnání s ostatními respondenty za nejvíce prestižní. Na udržení prestiže profese policisty mají největší možný vliv sdělovací prostředky a k hlavním motivům pro volbu povolání policisty u již sloužících policistů, patří jednak potřeba jistoty zaměstnání, ale i zájem o tuto profesi a zájem pomáhat lidem.

Abstract:

Degree work deals with the prestige of profession, namely the prestige of the profession police. On basis of participant observation and interviews realized mostly with people of the general public, but who is a legitimate critic of the work, respectively judge the performance of activities presented to the czech republic policemen and city policemen, were generated basic framework with work's aim and specific evaluation. Main goal of this work is to find out position of profession of the Czech republic policemen in Havířov from the point of view of policeman himself on profession prestige scale and compare results with earlier estabilished nationally evaluation of profession prestige. Practical part deal is to get to know how is prestige of profession the Czech republic policemen in Havířov seen by the public, policemen and city police. Another goal is to find out how is prestige of profession city police in Havířov and prestige of members of public security before year 1989 seen by the public, Czech republic policemen and city policemen. To realize practical part I used nonstandardized method of anonymous questionnaire, sequentially I analysed results. On basis of gained results I can claim that stances of Havířov's policemen and policemen from the rest of the Czech republic are identical. Policemen themself sees their own profession, by comparison with the other respondents as the most prestige one. The greatest influence on holding the prestige of police profession has mass media and the leading motif to choose profession of the Czech republic policemen by already serving policemen is partly need for security of employment, but also interest in this profession and interest in helping people.
